Maternity Pay Increases

Bristol-based tax and employment specialists, Premier Employer Solutions has urged local businesses to ensure that they are still HR compliant following the recent increases in statutory maternity (SMP), paternity (SPP) and adoption (SAP) pay and statutory sick pay (SSP).

Effective from 6th April 2006, the flat rates for SMP, SPP and SAP have increased by £2.85 to £108.85 per week (or 90% of average weekly earnings if this is less than £108.85). Standard rates for SSP have also increased to £70.05 per week.

PES' tax and HR specialist said of the changes: "While this is great news for employees, it is essential that employers make some necessary changes to ensure they are still HR compliant."
